The village is suggested as a good base from which to dash around the island as the northern part of the island offers many remarkable places which are close and easily accessible.
A little to the east of the village and not more than 3 km away is the wonderful beach of Avlaki where one can take sailing and horse riding lessons. Right next to Avlaki is the region of Agios Stefanos (6 km) with its little port, a haven for various recreational vessels and its unique fish taverns. Going further east, visit the beach of Kerasia with its turquoise waters, Kalami the favourite village of the author Lawrence Durrel and if you have rented a boat you must stop at Agni.

In the southwest part of Corfu is the village of Agios Matheos. The small market town is set in woods on a hillside that shares its name with the village.
This fertile agricultural area offers travelers a look into the regions olive production and vineyards. Agios Matheos is famous for its production of kakotrighis, a clear, lightly flavoured white wine. If you are looking for beaches then Corfu has a lot to offer.
Saint George, on the southern part of the island, is said to have one of the best beaches in all of Greece. Corfu holidays can offer something for everyone.
Whether you are looking to relax at the beach, experience some of the local culture and history, or looking to discover a new favourite Greek destination, then the island of Corfu and its many unique villages has something to offer for everyone. Alternatively the neighbouring Kefalonia is another option. Kefalonia holidays offer something very special.
